Tuesday, April 7: A Poor Farm Road resident called at 7:45 a.m. to complain about speeders on that road. An officer told the caller that more radar details would be added in the area. A woman was taken to Nashoba Valley Medical Center from an Old Shirley Road address at 8:57 a.m. An officer on patrol on Old Shirley Road at 9:22 a.m. noticed a bag of trash in the road and notified the Department of Public Works that it needed to be picked up. A caller reported at 9:23 a.m. that there was a car parked on conservation land near Shaker Road. An officer found it was stuck in the mud. The owner called AAA for a tow truck. At 10:21 p.m. a caller reported that her car had a flat tire and that she had left it on the side of East Bare Hill Road while she went to get help. A woman was taken by ambulance to Emerson Hospital from a Bolton Road address at 11:16 p.m.
Wednesday, April 8: A Woodside Road resident reported at 2:16 a.m. that a tractor was missing from the yard of a neighbor, who was away on vacation. Upon investigating, police found that the owner had loaned the equipment to someone. At 4:38 p.m. a Park Lane resident called to report receiving harassing phone calls from a credit card service. She was advised to call back if the harassing calls continued. At 8:19 p.m. Boxborough police requested the assistance of Harvard police in responding to a medical call in that town. An Old Littleton Road resident reported at 10:21 p.m. that his house had been burglarized while he was away that day. A door that had been left unlocked was found open, and many items were discovered missing, including a camera, jewelry, and a Bose radio. Police estimate the value of the stolen goods to be more than $10,000. The case is under investigation.
Thursday, April 9: At 2:03 p.m. an official at the fire tower reported a fire burning on Old Littleton Road. Firefighters responded and found an unpermitted fire in progress. The blaze was extinguished. A driver traveling on Ayer Road called the station to ask for directions at 7:43 p.m. At 11:59 p.m. state police notified Harvard police to be on the lookout for a car being driven erratically. The car had been traveling on Route 2 and had exited onto Route 111. Police did not locate the vehicle.
Friday, April 10: At 10:04 a.m. an officer stopped to investigate a car parked at an Old Littleton Road address, where a burglary had taken place on Wednesday. The car belonged to a friend of the resident. A Hillcrest Drive resident called the ambulance at 3:46 p.m. to report experiencing severe stomach pains, but later refused transportation to the hospital. A man stopped at the station at 4:43 p.m. to speak to an officer about a past incident, in which a priest allegedly threw a rock at the man’s dog after it had acted aggressively. At 5:37 p.m. an Old Mill Road resident reported that his house had been burglarized while he was away. There was no sign of forced entry. A set of uncirculated coins valued at $1,000 was reported missing. At 6:30 p.m., while picking up a cruiser from a garage where it was being serviced, officers were flagged down by a group of people who reported that there was a dead swan by the Ayer rotary. The bird appeared to have been shot. Environmental police were notified and retrieved the carcass of the protected species for examination. The case is under investigation. An officer on patrol on Ayer Road at 6:59 p.m. stopped to investigate a car parked at a business location, but found nothing amiss.
Saturday, April 11: A caller reported a utility pole fire on Still River Road at 2:06 p.m. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and National Grid was notified. At 6:05 p.m. Ayer police asked Harvard police to be on the lookout for a Honda Civic being driven erratically on Ayer Road, heading toward Harvard. Police did not locate the vehicle.
Sunday, April 12: At 9:17 a.m. an Ann Lee Road resident called to complain about the noise being created by a neighbor who was cutting granite. An officer spoke to the granite-cutter and suggested that he defer that activity until later in the day. A car driven by a woman on West Bare Hill Road left the road and struck a tree at 1:04 p.m. The woman was taken by ambulance to Nashoba Valley Medical Center; the car was towed. Fire department personnel investigated a faulty fire alarm at a Myrick Lane residence at 3:18 p.m.
Monday, April 13: A woman stopped at the station at 10:19 a.m. seeking information about applying for a permit to carry pepper spray. A caller at Sorrento’s Pizzeria reported at 11:30 a.m. that someone had been dumping trash illegally in the restaurant’s dumpster. The caller discovered the owner of the trash and gave the name to police, who contacted the person and advised him to retrieve what he had dumped. Police stopped a car for speeding on Ayer Road at 1:40 p.m. and arrested a passenger, Seth Liversidge, 24, of Methuen, on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in Gloucester District Court for an OUI charge. At 4:02 p.m. a woman stopped at the station to complain that there was too much traffic around the elementary school in the morning and that she was having difficulty getting her child to school on time.
