Harvard’s Boy Scout Troop 1 and the District Board of Review recently promoted Ben Landry to its highest rank in scouting, Eagle Scout. The rank is based on performance standards in the areas of character development, personal fitness, citizenship training, leadership, community service, first aid, emergency preparedness, communications, camping, survival skills, and environmental sciences. As part of his community service requirement, Ben chose to work with the Harvard Parks and Recreation Commission on constructing an information kiosk at Harvard Park. Once his project was approved, he obtained funding and materials and supervised other Troop 1 scouts and community volunteers in the building of the kiosk.
