At the two-day Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Invitational held at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center in Boston last weekend, Emily Jones won the Girls Elite mile competition, posting a time of 4:54.87, eight-tenths of a second off the meet record and the third fastest mile time posted by a high school girl in the nation so far this year.
Also turning in strong performances for the Bromfield girls were Katherine Finnegan, Mimi Narbonne, and Lisa Reedich, who finished fifth in the 300-meter, eighth in the 600-meter, and 14th in the 1,000-meter, respectively. The Bromfield girls also participated in the three relays, with the team placing ninth in the 4×400 in a solid 4:13.04.
In all, Bromfield qualified four boys and 13 girls for the invitational meet.
