Town Administrator Tim Bragan has set the bar high when it comes to municipal pay raises: he won’t take the 2 percent pay increase that most town employees will get in the upcoming fiscal year. At a time when all town departments will almost certainly see cuts in service, Bragan couldn’t in good conscience accept a pay raise, he told the Finance Committee Saturday, Jan. 10.
“It’s a personal choice,” he said, looking a little embarrassed at the praise several board members offered.
Bragan spends his days trying to figure out where and how cuts can be made in the Omnibus Budget, and “at some point, you start chewing away at your own ankle,” he remarked. Bragan’s salary, both this year and next, is set at $97,643.
