I want very much to thank neighbors (who shall remain nameless), ranging in age from 8 to 50-odd, who helped me with moving a generator from, and, another day, back to, my pickup during the recent power loss. (And a special thanks to a 4½-year-old who kept my wife’s spirits up during unloading.) In one’s 80s, it turns out that one simply can no longer execute physical tasks as one might have done a decade or so earlier. However much we may agree or disagree on matters of state, it is indeed heart-warming to re-experience small town goodwill when it comes to neighbor helping neighbor.
