Tuesday, December 2: Upon investigating an occupied car parked on Cameron Road at 9:28 a.m., police found an insurance adjuster resting, having arrived in the area early for an appointment. A man stopped at the station at 9:38 a.m. seeking information related to the summons his son had received for his alleged involvement in a housebreak. A woman on Fairbank Street contacted police at 11:23 a.m. to report receiving a letter she thought might be a scam. At 1:50 p.m. police received a report of items stolen from the highway barn. The case is under investigation. The ambulance transported a woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center from an Ayer Road address at 1:53 p.m.
Wednesday, December 3: At 2:28 a.m. police received a report of a tree that fell at a Littleton County Road address, taking wires with it. Police and fire personnel checked the area and determined there was no hazard. At 6:49 a.m. Boxborough police requested assistance with a disabled vehicle in the roadway near the town line. Harvard officers stood by while waiting for the vehicle to be towed. At 7 a.m. police responded to a call from a Simon Atherton Row address and arrested a teen who had struck his mother after a disagreement about his attire for the day. He was transported to Worcester Juvenile Court, where he was arraigned for domestic violence, and was later released to the custody of his parents. At 10:28 p.m. police took note of an unoccupied vehicle parked in front of a business on Ayer Road. The owner was not located.
Thursday, December 4: At 5:24 a.m. an alarm company reported receiving an alert from the carbon monoxide alarm at a Myrick Lane address, but there was no answer at the home. Fire personnel checked and cleared the house, finding no CO leak. EMTs responded to a call about a woman who passed out at a Mass. Ave. location. She refused transport to the hospital.
Friday, December 5: Police and fire personnel responded to a single-car accident on Brown Road reported at 7 a.m. No citations were issued. The driver reported feeling dizzy and was transported to UMass Medical Center. His car was towed. At 4:35 p.m. a young boy on Cleaves Hill Road called to report hearing gunshots in the area. Police checked the area, but found nothing.
Saturday, December 6: At 7:30 a.m. a caller on Babbitt Lane reported seeing stray cows—still on the run from the Groton farm from which they escaped earlier this year. The Groton farmer was notified. At 8:44 a.m. a caller reported finding a pellet gun on the side of Ayer Road. Fire personnel responded to the report of smoke coming from the eaves of a house on Old Shirley Road at 3:50 p.m. The fire, apparently started during home repairs that were in progress, was extinguished by 4:05 p.m. At 10:20 p.m. an alarm company reported receiving alarms from heat and smoke detectors in a garage and home on West Bare Hill Road. Fire personnel responded and were told by the owner that smoke from the fireplace had backed up since the damper in the flue had not been opened sufficiently.
Sunday, December 7: At 6:08 a.m. the Department of Public Works was called out to sand slippery roads. At 7:05 a.m. police received reports of street signs that had been knocked down and were partially blocking the road. They subsequently found that signs had been knocked down on several roads in town, including Myrick Lane and Finn and Pinnacle roads. A caller on Withington Lane reported at noon that more mailboxes on that road had been vandalized. Officer Greg Newman told the Press that patrols in that area have been stepped up, since there have been a number of mailbox vandalisms reported there in recent weeks. A caller reported seeing a group of six vehicles parked along Ayer Road at 5 p.m., and wondered if there might be an accident there. Police found that the cars in question belonged to a group of people trying to locate a church in the area. At 6:35 p.m. the DPW was called out to put up a stop sign that had been knocked down. Fire personnel responded to a report of a shed fire in progress at 10:08 p.m. on Littleton Road. The fire was extinguished, but the shed was completely destroyed, along with the six chickens that lived there. A caller on Bolton Road reported hearing loud explosions at 10:30 p.m. Police checked the area, but found nothing.
Monday, December 8: Police received a report about speed-limit signs that had been knocked down on Bolton Road and Babbitt Lane. Ambulance personnel provided a lift assist to a woman at a residence on Simon Atherton Row who had fallen at 11:06 a.m. The woman refused transportation to the hospital. At 12:10 p.m. a caller for a group of hikers reported one of the hikers missing. Police found the man—who had been walking more slowly than the rest of the group and had become separated from them—waiting for the group by his car. A car vs. deer encounter reported at 9:43 p.m. resulted in minor damage to the car and serious damage to the deer, which was later euthanized by the animal control officer.
