What an absolutely spectacular Halloween evening. The Common and surrounding neighborhoods were so full of life, laughter, and camaraderie. The costumes and decorations were incredible. Many memories were made and shared that night. Many, many sincere thanks to all of the residents who opened their doors and welcomed us. They are always so gracious and generous with their time and efforts to ensure that Halloween in Harvard is so special.
A special thank-you is due this year to all of the individuals of “For Art’s Sake” who created the absolutely magnificent display of pumpkins and to those who creatively carved all of those pumpkins as well as others adorning the houses. We truly have amazing artistic talent in town.
Another thank-you goes to the Ecumenical Youth Group who transformed the old public library into a fabulous haunted mansion. The popularity of this attraction generated not only fun for all, but also considerable food donations for Loaves and Fishes. Kudos to all involved.
Finally, I would like to thank Chief Denmark and his staff for their assistance in ensuring a safe and fun event. In particular, the dispatchers—Pat, Trish, Gordon, and Andrew—deserve a tremendous amount of credit and appreciation for all of the hours they put into organizing the candy collection weeks before Halloween.
As we turn back our clocks and watch the temperature and light fade, the memories we created this Halloween will remain a constant reminder of what a wonderful community of people Harvard is.
