I am writing to sincerely thank Rep. Jamie Eldridge for his dedication and support of S-2481, An Act Providing for Safer Alternative to Toxic Chemicals. This bill establishes a plan to replace the use of toxic chemicals with safer alternatives, as well as a comprehensive program to aid these industries in making the switch.
Not only do these toxics have a harmful effect on the environment, but repeated exposure to toxic chemicals has been linked to the onset of a number of chronic diseases, including cancer, Parkinson’s disease and diabetes, as well as detrimental effects on children, including birth defects and other developmental concerns. Due to these known hazards, strict enforcement of the regulation of these chemicals is imperative. Rep. Jamie Eldridge’s enthusiasm for this enforcement has allowed for great headway in the success of this bill and I hope that we’ll see him fighting for our health and environment in the Senate.
