Lyme Disease forum
On Thursday, Nov. 20, a Lyme disease forum is being co-sponsored by the Harvard League of Women Voters, Nashoba Valley Medical Center, the Harvard Board of Health, the Turn the Corner Foundation, and a documentary production company, Open Eye Pictures.
As a member of the League’s Health Care Reform Committee, Janice Goodell of Hillcrest Drive has backed the creation of the forum, which will be held in Volunteers Hall in the Harvard Public Library at 6:30 p.m.
The evening will consist of a one and three-quarter-hour Lyme disease documentary, “Under Our Skin,” produced by Open Eye Pictures, which will be followed by a period of questions and answers. While the list of participants is not yet complete, attendees will include Tom Philippou, chairman of the Board of Health, Carol Horgan of Nashoba Associated Boards of Health Nursing Service, and health advocate Donna Castle.
The documentary examines the present critical healthcare crisis revolving around the misdiagnosis and underdiagnosis of the mercurial disease, and the controversy involving testing for it.
