I would like to thank the entire town of Harvard for the unbelievable job they did this week in responding to the fire at the Historical Society, working to protect the town treasures that have been entrusted to the Society for safekeeping for future generations. It makes me feel so proud and fortunate to be a member of this community—this is truly a special place.
Our firefighters deserve more praise than I can express for stopping what could have been a tragic loss. The crew helped organize removing the collection under the guidance of our retired chief and now selectman, Peter Warren. And even after working their regular jobs many of the firefighters came back to help move these items to storage trailers. Members of the community remained all day to help as well. If for no other reason, I am glad to have made this my home. Again, all Harvard citizens, please accept my sincere thanks.
