Pursuant to the passage of Article 14 at the 2008 Annual Town Meeting, the Board of Selectmen appointed the Town Center Sewer Action Group. The TCSAG is charged with making a recommendation to the BOS for action at next spring’s ATM. This recommendation should be made to the selectmen late this year to allow time to prepare a warrant article and informational materials and presentations to help inform the decision.
The TCSAG members are Chris Ashley (chairman), Carrie Fraser, Wade Holtzman, Pat Jennings, and Joe Sudol. Tim Clark is the selectman liaison to the group. Thus far the group has reviewed the information developed in previous studies and planning efforts, contracted with an engineering firm to update previous construction cost estimates so that up-to-date cost models of various scenarios can be developed, and updated the septic system status of public and private properties in the town center. The next task for the group is to look at the current and foreseeable future needs of the town and the costs associated with those needs, and start a public dialogue to determine individual property owners’ needs and the general public’s concerns, hopes, and fears for a town center sewer.
As a start to the public dialogue, the group is planning informal coffees Tuesday, Sept. 9 at 7 p.m., hosted by Carlene Phillips (7 Oak Hill Road), and on Thursday, Sept. 11 at 7 p.m., hosted by Pat Hatch (3 Fairbank Street). We invite residents to join our hosts and members of the TCSAG to share their thoughts on this important issue.
