Five Harvard residents competed successfully in the 2008 Timberman Triathlon Festival this past weekend, Aug. 16 and 17, at Lake Winnipesaukee, in Gilford, N.H.
Jennifer Schoenberg and Wyatt Brown completed the 70.3-mile triathlon on Sunday. The event consists of a 1.2-mile open-water swim in the lake, a 56-mile bike course over rolling countryside, and a 13.1-mile run somewhat paralleling the lake’s shoreline. Schoenberg captured fifth place in her age group (35 to 39), with a time of 5:19:03. Brown, competing in the 25 to 29 age group, finished in a respectable 6:42:45.
Della Jennings, Debbie Rich, and Jim DeZutter competed in the Sprint Triathlon on Saturday. The event consists of a ?-mile swim in the lake, a 15-mile rolling bike ride, and a 3-mile run along the lake shore road. Jennings finished with a time of 1:20:16 and was fifth in her age group (45 to 49). Rich, also in the 45 to 49 age group, finished with a time of 1:38:17. And DeZutter, capturing second in his age group (70 to 74), finished with a time of 2:08:17.
