Jonathan Rennie McCormack, Bromfield Class of 2003, graduated from Brandeis University on May 17. Jon, son of Chuck McCormack and Press reporter Alice Rennie, earned a double major in East Asian studies and international and global studies. He received honors in East Asian studies, writing a thesis on Japanese nationalism. Besides his double major, Jon also had two minors, in history and legal studies. He studied four years of Japanese and spent his junior year abroad in Tokyo, though he eventually got a bit homesick in Japan, saying he found it rather wearying to always have to be so extremely polite.
Jon finished up his coursework last December, and has been gainfully employed at Beehive Security, a small computer networking firm. He currently lives near Davis Square in Somerville with his old Harvard buddies Patrick Powers and Joe Larkin, also Bromfield Class of 2003. Jon plans to work for two years and then go to law school, with the ultimate goal of working in human rights or international law.
