Health board member takes issue with School Committee
At the May 27 Board of Health meeting Lorin Johnson reacted to comments made by School Committee Chairman Stu Sklar and member Willie Wickman about communication at the previous health board meeting on May 13.
“I propose we correspond with the School Committee and ask them to correspond with us,” he said. “We have two letters to them on the fans,” he added, noting that they were never answered.
The health board has also written to the School Committee inquiring about the use of fertilizer on school grounds, with no response.
“At the last Town Meeting, Leo Blair laid it out in lavender. The people want open communication,” Johnson emphasized.
What about Volunteers Hall?
Johnson also took issue with the fact that the School Committee met in the new library’s Volunteers Hall on May 19.
“We [the Board of Health] have been refused the ability to meet there. I want an explanation from the library trustees,” he said.
Having already received a letter from the trustees refusing town committees such access, the health board will send a second letter asking about the apparent discrepancy in how its policy is applied.
