I wanted to share with the citizens of Harvard that the Fourth of July fireworks, music festival, parade, and field events are completely funded by the sale of our T-shirts and hats, as well as donations. These are lean times for the town and I thought it was especially important to share this information with our citizens, as well as thank all of our patrons.
I would like to thank our T-shirt subcommittee co-chairs, Tom and Lori Daniells. When the snow is still on the ground, they coordinate with Bromfield’s graphic arts teacher Martha Brooks and her talented students to design the shirt. They also coordinate the production of the T-shirts. Tom and Lori organize and pack the inventory of T-shirts and hats for selling at the transfer station, the Apple Blossom Festival, and everywhere else in town you find us selling T-shirts. Countless weekends selling and lifting heavy boxes result in our town having a spectacular fireworks display and Fourth of July.
We also have a fantastic committee of volunteers. You will meet them selling T-shirts all about town. We always enjoy new volunteers. Residents are invited to stop by and pick up a shirt for themselves, friends, or family members. Consider sending a T-shirt to an out-of-town family member or former neighbor. I have heard many stories over the years of what great conversation and connections the T-shirts have started over the years. I can be reached at kathrynfarrell@verizon.net or 978-456-9533.
