I am writing to thank citizens who came out to vote on April 1 and to express my appreciation upon being elected to continue serving on the School Committee. I take my responsibilities very seriously and look forward to working on behalf of our students to guide the district in budgeting, policy-making, and decision-making that will sustain the excellence in education that we value in Harvard.
Specifically, I want to thank those who contributed their time, energy, and financial resources to my campaign. To those who held signs, wrote letters, hosted and attended coffees, watched my kids, or shared thoughts, ideas, and advice, I am extremely grateful for your help.
I also hope that I can be part of the solution to the current acrimony in town surrounding our schools. Throughout the campaign season, many people expressed sentiments about the need to move forward and work constructively together to solve our town’s problems. I wholeheartedly agree that the newly elected town boards need room to make changes in the absence of the personal attacks and misleading statements that have been thrown around the political landscape in the last year. Especially now, in the midst of a difficult economic environment, I hope that people in the community can respect the good intentions of those volunteering on the boards and support our collective efforts to work together respectfully for the benefit of everyone in Harvard.
I encourage everyone in Harvard to find ways to get engaged in the issues, ask questions, voice their opinions, and come vote at the next Town Meeting.
