Irvin Hunt, of Old Littleton Road, will be among the honorees at the Rising Stars gala to be held April 26 at the Burlington Marriott Hotel. The New England Friends, a support organization for the United Negro College Fund, will pay tribute to the enduring legacy forged by graduates of historically Black colleges and universities over the past 170 years by honoring them at the group’s first gala dinner and awards ceremony. Hunt is a graduate of Concord Academy and graduated summa cum laude from Morehouse College. He completed his master’s degree at UC Berkeley. A writer and a music lover, he is working on his Ph. D. in English and comparative literature under a Ford Fellowship at Columbia University. He is currently working on philosophies of freedom.
