Grateful for town officials

April 11, 2008

I noticed the letter in the April 4 edition of the Harvard Press criticizing three town officials for giving incorrect answers to questions at the recent Town Meeting. With all due respect to the writer, I have to say that I for one appreciate the fact that town officials do their best to answer questions posed at Town Meeting. Occasionally the answer may prove to be wrong and when that happens generally a correction or clarification is offered immediately. I would hate to see us reach a point where officials are afraid to give answers for fear of being criticized for not being 100 percent accurate.

I don’t always agree with everything that town officials do or every position they take, but they work very hard on behalf of all of us here in Harvard and I think we should be grateful for their dedication and commitment.
