In a ceremony at the Board of Selectmen’s meeting, Officer Ovidiu “James” Babu was promoted to the rank of sergeant in the Harvard Police Department. Chief Ed Denmark said that after five “exemplary” years as a Harvard police officer, Babu was offered the opportunity to go through the formal process for advancement, which included four separate evaluations.
Denmark thanked the town for supporting the police department’s desire to offer its employees opportunities for advancement; he also acknowledged Babu’s wife Oana, saying, “None of us can be part of this profession without the support of our families. Jim wouldn’t be here without you.”
