Swimmer, traveler, renowned pastry chef

Friends in Harvard have received news of the death of Sharon Perica Campbell, who grew up in town in the ’60s and ’70s. Sharon collapsed on the beach Dec. 17, after an early morning swim in Monterey Bay, Calif., and died nine days later of a cerebral aneurysm.

Sharon and her brothers attended the Harvard schools, and she later attended the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, N.Y. She went on to become a renowned pastry chef, working for the past 18 years at the Monterey Plaza Hotel.

She is survived by her children, Josh, Adam, Emily, and Zach; her mother, Edie; and her three brothers, Steven, Robert, and George Perica.

On Feb. 3 at 10 a.m., Sharon’s teammates at a local outrigger canoe club will paddle out to sea with floral leis to honor her.
