Town Caucus Set for Saturday, Feb. 2
The selectmen approved and signed the warrant for the town caucus, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 2, at 7 p.m. in the Town Hall meeting room. The town elections are set for Tuesday, April 1. The selectmen also approved and signed the warrant for the presidential primary, scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 5.
Selectmen Sign Statement of Support for National Guard and National Reserve
The selectmen signed a statement of support for the National Guard and National Reserve, pledging that if a town employee is called up for service, employment will not be denied, career opportunities will not be limited, and leaves of absence will be granted.
Montachusett Regional Planning Commission to Hold Public Hearing
Director of the MRPC Shelly Hatch will be at the next meeting of the Board of Selectmen on Jan. 29 to provide information about a new grant that will be submitted on behalf of Harvard, Lancaster, and one other town. Grant money would be applied to recent, ongoing, or future projects related to housing rehabilitation or preventing housing foreclosure.
2007 Annual Report Was Award-Winner
Town Administrator Tim Bragan reported that the town’s 2007 Annual Report was recognized as an award-winner and came in third for communities of its size, behind Bedford and Lancaster. Thanks were extended to former Executive Assistant Valeska Ross, who helped to coordinate the report.
Mead Appointed to Personnel Board
The Board of Selectmen voted unanimously to appoint Finance Committee member Terry Mead to the Personnel Board as the representative for the Finance Committee. Mead will be taking on a one-year appointment to replace Cindy Russo, who recently resigned from the Finance Committee.
