Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry is gearing up for several holiday events and we need your help. The pantry provides year-round food, emergency shelter, resource referral, and other temporary services; however, the holidays are traditionally a time of increased need, and this year is no exception. We offer our clients three special days in December to help make their holiday season brighter: shop for your parents day on Saturday, Dec. 8, shop for your kids day on Thursday, Dec. 13 and holiday food distribution on Friday, Dec. 21.
The food pantry has seen an increase in need for its services this year. Last year, with the help of many generous donations, Loaves & Fishes provided more than 1,500 people with food for Thanksgiving and December holiday dinners. We assisted parents by providing donated holiday gifts and books for more than 300 children at the shop for your kids day. In turn, more than 200 children of clients picked out donated gifts for their caretakers at shop for your parents day. Due to high energy prices and the economy, we predict higher numbers than ever for these upcoming events. Donations of new, unwrapped gifts or nonperishable food are critically needed. Loaves & Fishes, located at 234 Barnum Road in Devens, will be open for extended drop-off hours from Dec. 9 to 12 and Dec. 14 to 20.
