Tuesday, November 6: At 1:45 a.m. police took note of an empty car parked in front of a commercial building on Ayer Road. Lights were on in the building, but police found only an industrious insomniac at work, rather than any cause for alarm. A car driven by a Shirley woman making a turn on Ayer Road was rear-ended by a car driven by an Ashburnham man following too closely. Damage to both cars was minor, and police gave the man a written warning. An Ayer Road woman was taken to Nashoba Valley Medical Center by the ambulance team at 4:11 p.m.
Wednesday, November 7: A Harvard woman, alarmed for the safety of a utility worker using a ladder near West Bare Hill and Bolton roads, came in to the station to notify police at 9:18 a.m. Police responded, but were unable to locate the imperiled worker in question. At 4 p.m. a cell phone caller driving along Mass. Ave. reported seeing someone lying by the side of the road in apparent distress. After searching the area, however, police were unable to find the pedestrian. The ambulance team took the same woman from Ayer Road back to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 4:52 p.m.
Thursday, November 8: Police received a report of vandalism to a concrete bench under construction at the library at 7:25 p.m. The damage was fixed by a library volunteer and handyman. At 11 a.m. a Depot Road resident called police to tell them about the damage an oil truck had caused to his lawn. Police received two reports of an erratic driver on Still River Road at 3:37 p.m. An officer searched the area all the way to the Bolton town line, but did not find the vehicle described. An East Bare Hill Road man went to Nashoba Valley Medical Center by ambulance at 8:10 p.m.
Friday, November 9: Police stopped a Leominster man near Ayer and Old Mill roads at 6:44 a.m. for driving a car with a revoked license. He was given a summons for that offense, and driven away by his legally licensed passenger. The ambulance squad took an Ayer Road man to Emerson Hospital at 9:28 a.m. At 10:24 a.m. the squad took a Myrick Lane man to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. Dispatch received a call at 11:13 a.m. about the theft of a Buick Century from the Foxglove apartment complex. Tewksbury police found the car abandoned in a parking lot in that town at 7:30 p.m. Saturday night. The matter is still under investigation, according to Officer Murphy. A Westcott Road woman out for a walk discovered a dog collar and turned it in at the station at 2:21 p.m. Police then contacted the owners of the pet, and they retrieved the collar.
Saturday, November 10: Police secured one of the buildings at Fruitlands after noting an open door at 2:42 a.m. An Ayer Road woman asked police to come to her home to deal with her highly intoxicated husband at 8:11 a.m. Police were able to persuade the man to leave and delivered a restraining order against him at 1:07 p.m. At 2:01 a.m. a Still River Road man called for an ambulance to take him to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. At 2:20 a.m. Harvard dispatch called the Boxborough ambulance service to take a Bolton Road woman to Marlborough Hospital, as the Harvard squad was busy with the previous call. Police escorted the Bromfield boys varsity soccer team from Route 2 to the school as they returned—the winners—from the district tournament.
Sunday, November 11: At 6:55 a.m. the ambulance squad took a Finn Road woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center. Police again escorted a winning Bromfield varsity soccer team—the girls—from Route 2 to the school after the district tournament. The police also escorted the victorious Harvard/Shirley/Ayer Broncos football team from Route 2 to Bromfield, beginning at 8:02 p.m. At 10:22 p.m. a Littleton County Road woman called dispatch to report two cars parked in her driveway with the lights off. By the time police arrived, however, the suspicious-looking cars were gone.
Monday, November 12: Police stopped a Harvard man on Old Mill Road at 5:50 a.m. for driving with a revoked registration. He was given a summons for that offense, and his car was towed away. At 9:39 a.m. a Brown Road woman called to tell police that her mailbox had been vandalized, and a pumpkin smashed in the middle of the road. The pumpkin did not belong to her, she said. The ambulance team took an East Bare Hill Road woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 11:12 a.m. At 1:22 p.m. police were summoned to a home on Bolton Road to help a homeowner there evict the friends of his partner’s teenage son. The known troublemakers were taken to the rotary and dropped off in Ayer. Boxborough police asked Harvard police for help locating a car at 5:30 p.m., but Harvard police were unable to find the car within town limits. The fire department was called to a Blanchard Road residence at 5:51 p.m. when the homeowners smelled smoke. Firefighters determined that there was no cause for alarm, as the smoke was coming from the home’s woodstove pipe and circulating back inside through an open door.
