Tuesday, September 18: The Boxborough ambulance team took a Harvard woman to a local hospital at 6:33 a.m. when the Harvard ambulance was unable to respond. At 9:30 a.m., the observant Harvard woman who found $200 cash in a Port-a-Potty at the soccer fields exactly one year ago was notified that the owner never came forward to claim the money, and she was therefore entitled to the stash. A medical monitoring company called police to ask for help with a man whose monitor indicated he was in distress at 1:07 p.m. A police officer checked on him at his apartment and verified that he was in good health. A Prospect Hill Road resident called police to report suspicious activity at a neighbor’s house at 3:45 p.m. Someone was taking apple boxes out of the garage, the caller said. After investigating, police found that the person had permission to do so from the owner of the boxes in question. A Finn Road resident was taken to Emerson hospital by ambulance at 7:44 p.m. Two young children repeatedly dialed the number of a Woodside Road friend, whose mother called police to report the harassing behavior at 8:32 p.m. Police located the culprits by reverse-engineering the phone number and pinpointing the residence. They asked the children to write letters of apology, and they complied. A credit card turned in to the station was picked up by the relieved Stow Road owner at 11:11 p.m.
Wednesday, September 19: The ambulance team took a Slough Road resident to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 2:24 p.m. At 4:06 p.m. a burglary at a Shaker Road home was reported to dispatch. Entry to the home was not forced, Officer Castro noted, and the list of items taken was not complete. There are no suspects in the case, he said, but the incident is still under investigation. A tractor-trailer attempting a turn-around in the parking lot near Fitchburg Savings Bank inadvertently knocked over a utility pole shortly before 5:50 p.m.
Thursday, September 20: A Harvard man came into the dispatch center at 6:13 a.m. to report hitting a deer on Still River Road, leaving a spectacular mess. Police notified the DPW. The ambulance squad took a resident from a home at Littleton Road and Orchard Hill to Emerson Hospital at 12:06 p.m. An alert neighbor on West Bare Hill Road called police on a cellphone to report a man smoking a joint while driving on Scott Road at 6:01 p.m. Dispatch notified the Bolton Police Department. A Still River Road resident concerned about a plane “flying low” called police at 6:16 p.m. The ambulance squad took a Harvard resident from the beach to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 7:43 p.m. Two men from Ayer out on a toot were corralled by Harvard police for trespassing, use of fireworks, and possession of narcotics at 7:06 p.m. They were both given a summons to appear in Clinton District Court to answer for all three offenses.
Friday, September 21: The Ayer Police Department called Harvard to request the use of their portable breathalyzer at 1:42 a.m. Police stayed for backup help with the arrest and transport of two people to the Ayer Police Station. At 11:29 p.m. the manager of the Ayer McDonalds called police for help with a Shirley man, who was yelling at people in the restaurant. A Still River Road resident called police about a Ford pickup truck swerving all over the road at 10:36 p.m. Police were unable to locate the vehicle.
Saturday, September 22: At 12:23 a.m. police investigated a single-car crash on Slough Road in which the owner and operator of a white pickup truck crashed into a stone wall, then left the scene of the accident. When found, he will be given a summons for leaving the scene of an accident with property damage. A tow company came and got the truck. A Harvard woman trying to prevent unauthorized use of the town beach by those without proper stickers came to the attention of police at 5:35 p.m. A Still River Road homeowner reported a hit-and-run accident involving eight feet of damaged fence marked with blue paint at 6:50 p.m. At 8:13 p.m. someone living on Westcott Road called police about a suspicious car driving on that road, shining a spotlight into homes. Police investigated, but found nothing suspicious.
Sunday, September 23: Pranksters moved the Pond Road street sign to a location near the entrance to the new library sometime before 2:14 a.m. Police asked the DPW to reattach the sign. Ayer police asked Harvard police for help with an erratic driver found on Littleton Road in Ayer at 2:32 a.m. The man driving the car was arrested, and Harvard provided backup during that process. At 2:41 a.m. Groton police called Harvard police to request that they deliver a message to a man living on Bolton Road, asking him to pick up his son at the station in Groton. At 8:52 p.m. the same man asked Harvard police for help locating his teenage son, who was later found at his girlfriend’s house.
Monday, September 24: A Harvard woman reported the violation of a restraining order against her former boyfriend at 12:08 p.m. The Leominster man will be charged with that crime, Castro said. An Old Littleton Road resident called dispatch to report a cement truck dumping excess material off to the side of the road at 2:59 p.m., but police checking the area found nothing suspicious. A man driving on Oak Hill and Littleton County Roads went off a cliff and into the brush just before 6:56 p.m. He was not injured and no citations were issued, but the damaged car was towed from the scene.
