Appointments
The selectmen unanimously appointed Depot Road resident Orville Dodson as an associate member of the Zoning Board of Appeals. Anthony Colella of Littleton was appointed as a new employee at the transfer station.
USMC Sgt. Blinn to Be Honored
Selectman Bob Eubank will be present on Thursday, September 27, at the Veterans Center in Leominster to present a citation recognizing U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Jonathan Blinn for his military service. Blinn recently returned after serving four years overseas. The 24-year-old Harvard resident completed three tours of duty: one in Afghanistan, and two in Iraq.
Draft Warrant for Special Town Meeting
The warrant articles for the Special Town Meeting will be ready to sign on September 24. On Tuesday evening this week, Town Administrator Tim Bragan presented a draft of the warrant articles to the selectmen for discussion and approval; there were 17 warrant articles. They include articles for the ratification and funding of town employee contracts, easements for the General Store and Congregational Church, the citizens’ petition to censure the School Committee, and the funding of the $198,612 budget shortfall from certified free cash.
The selectmen plan to meet briefly on Monday, September 24, to read and sign the warrant articles so they can be posted on Tuesday morning. Warrant articles must be posted no less than 14 days before Town Meeting, which is scheduled for October 10.
PTO Donation—Transfer Sticker, Anyone?
The Board of Selectmen unanimously voted to donate one transfer station sticker to the auction for the Fall Fête, a PTO fundraiser.
