At 8:44 a.m., an Old Mill Road resident called police to report a broken cellar window and possible break-in at a neighboring home. Police checked the home, and determined that the window had been broken for many years, and naught was amiss. The ambulance team took an Old Littleton Road woman to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 10:12 a.m. Another ambulance team took a man from a doctor’s office on Ayer Road to Emerson Hospital at the same time.
Wednesday, August 15
A Finn Road resident called dispatch at 5:50 a.m. for help with large rocks placed at the end of her driveway, the result of a midnight prank. Police helped her remove the rocks, so she could get on her way. Police stopped a man from Ayer traveling on Ayer Road for driving with a revoked license at 6:34 a.m. He was issued a summons for that offense, and his car was towed from the scene. An Ayer Road woman was transported to Nashoba Valley Medical Center by ambulance at 10:30 a.m. Parents on Old Mill Road called police to report a possible missing child at 10:55 a.m. Officer Murphy responded to the call and found the 3-year- old boy hiding in his front yard. Dispatch received a call about two adult males with BB guns shooting glass bottles near the entrance to a Delaney Project walking path at 3:26 a.m. Police talked to the men, who agreed to pick up the shattered glass and move their target practice elsewhere.
Thursday, August 16
The ambulance team took a man from a doctor’s office on Ayer Road to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 1:30 p.m. Officer Murphy found a broken grave marker at the Shaker Cemetery on South Shaker Road at 1:42 p.m. She called the Cemetery Commission to report the damage later in the day, but was still awaiting a return phone call at press time.
Friday, August 17
Police asked the driver of a large 18-wheel moving van blocking Still River Road to move to a more convenient location at 9:11 a.m. At 9:25 a.m., a Bolton Road homeowner called police to complain about liquor bottles left in the front yard by partygoers at the home next door. At 10:49 a.m., a Harvard mother called police to report a disturbing incident at the pond that occurred Thursday night. Two girls swimming in the pond about 11 p.m. discovered that their clothes had been confiscated from the beach during their dip. The suspected thieves were some boys on the beach, and after asking the boys to return their clothes, they were unexpectedly confronted by a man in his 40s shouting obscenities and holding the clothes in question. Officer Murphy said the matter is under investigation. The police remind the public that the pond is closed after dusk. At 12:53 p.m., a man requested police help retrieving his son from the Bolton Road home where the imbibing litterbugs had been partying earlier.
Saturday, August 18
A report of previous vandalism to a Depot Road mailbox came in to dispatch at 3:11 p.m.
Sunday, August 19
Harvard police helped Boxborough police with four arrests at the Exxon station near Route 495 at 2:06 a.m. At 8:28 a.m., a Stow Road man called dispatch to report that his mailbox flag was in an upright position. It was not something he did, he said. Police were able to resolve the matter over the phone.
Monday, August 20
Residents of an East Bare Hill Road home called 911 after smelling smoke in their home. The Fire Department determined that a malfunctioning furnace was to blame. At 4:01 p.m., a Harvard resident called dispatch after a visit from an investigator from the Department of Defense conducting a background check on a neighbor. Police reassured her that his business was legitimate.
