Planning Board adds alternate

May 11, 2007

The Board of Selectmen and Planning Board members voted unanimously this week to appoint Leo Blair, of East Bare Hill Road, to fill the remaining alternate position on the Planning Board for a one-year term.

Blair told the selectmen at their Tuesday evening meeting that he has lived in Harvard for nine years and wants to get involved in the community. A Maine developer, Blair noted that he represents the “opposite side of the spectrum,” although, he continued, his projects in Maine are more like “conservation subdivisions.” He said that he anticipates there will be “pressure on development when the market improves” and believes he can help the Planning Board “fine-tune some of its ordinances” to benefit the town.

Selectman Bob Eubank wondered if Blair’s travel and work schedule would interfere with serving on the board, but Blair said no; he works from home and has business interests in Massachusetts as well, he said.
