Selectmen to hold retreat next week
The Board of Selectmen will hold its annual retreat next Tuesday, May 29, at 5 p.m. at the Devens Conference Center. Although it is legally a public meeting under the state’s open meeting law, Chairwoman Lucy Wallace asked that the press not attend so that the members can speak more freely. According to Wallace, no votes will be taken at the retreat and the selectmen will later summarize their discussions for the public.
Wallace, Marinelli appointed to Finance Committee Study Committee
Chairwoman Lucy Wallace and Selectman Bill Marinelli were appointed to represent the board on the Finance Committee Study Committee that was authorized at this year’s Annual Town Meeting to look at how Finance Committee members are selected and how long they should serve.
New liaison assignments
The board voted to make the following liaison assignments for the coming year:
Lucy Wallace (chairwoman): Town Hall, Community Preservation Committee, Housing Partnership. Library Trustees, Council on Aging, Devens (JBOS), Town Center Septic and Municipal Buildings, Finance Committee Study Committee.
Bob Eubank (vice-chairman): Elm Commission, tree warden, Historical Commission, School Committee and Montachusett Tech, Devens (JBOS), veterans agent, Zoning Board of Appeals, Special Education Task Force, Fruitlands Museum, state government liaison.
Tim Clark (clerk): Park and Recreation Commission, Cemetery Commission, Cultural Council, Town Center Planning Committee, Cable Television, Fourth of July Committee, Planning Board, MRTA, Town Center Septic and Municipal Buildings, Master Plan Implementation Committee.
Bill Marinelli: Water Commission, Conservation Commission, Finance Committee, Board of Health, Bare Hill Pond Management Committee, teachers union negotiations, Finance Committee Study Committee.
Randy Dean: Fire Department, Police Department, Ambulance Department, Personnel Board, dog officer, Public Works department, police, dispatch, and DPW union negotiations.
