Harvard firefighter, Raytheon employee

Alan Rouvel of Mettacomett Path, who was a member of Harvard’s volunteer fire department since 1991, died on Tuesday afternoon, May 1. He was 55.
He was the son of the late John F. and Virginia C. Dalzell Rouvel. After graduating from Brookline High School in 1969, Al studied plumbing at Bryant and Stratton in Boston; he went to work first at Gleason Plumbing and later became a plumber-pipefitter at Raytheon, where he recently completed 25 years of service. He was a member of the Harvard Sportsmen’s Club and the Nashoba Valley Regulators – Cowboy Shooting.
Besides his wife of 27 years, Patricia Martyn Rouvel, whom he met in 1976, Alan Rouvel is survived by his daughters, Shannon of Brighton and Kerri of Harvard; his son, William, of Waltham; his sister, Pamela Jean Shea, of Groton; his aunt, Jean Rouvel, of St. Petersburg, Florida; his father-in-law, Thomas Martyn, of Millis; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, at the Unitarian Church. Visiting hours will be at the Badger Funeral Home, 347 King Street, Littleton on Friday, May 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. Instead of flowers, those who want to do so may make a donation in his memory to either the Harvard Ambulance Squad, 40 Ayer Road, Harvard 01451, or the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown 02472.
