Mind over manners

April 27, 2007

How nice that some people are thinking about and writing about manners. Much of the time it seems that the idea of good manners is a foreign concept to many. Walkers don’t step aside for cars; drivers don’t slow down for walkers, bikers, and horses; officials talk over each other in meetings; children walk through the flower beds at the new library and parents take no notice. Is it too much to ask that parents teach their children good manners and apply those lessons themselves? It’s a free education that will pay dividends to them and to society.
