After a week of rainouts, the Bromfield girls tennis team hit the courts at Oakmont Regional High School this past Monday, April 9. The Trojan women earned their first win of the young season, winning all five matches. Junior Ellery Yahia turned in an impressive performance at third singles.
Sophomore Jacqui Holmes played two totally different sets during her first singles match. The score of her first set was 7–5, while she won the second set 6–0. In her first match of the season, senior co-captain Greta Hutchinson outplayed her opponent and won 6–3, 6–4. Yahia didn’t drop a game all day to win 6–0, 6–0.
Both doubles teams also won Monday. Senior co-captains Courtney Kenyon and Kara Lambert won 6–1, 6–1. Finally, the second doubles players, Caroline Korstvedt and Emily Egan, were also victorious.
The Trojan women are scheduled to open their home season Friday, depending on the weather. The team won’t play over vacation and will return to the courts at home on the following Monday against Littleton High School.
