I am encouraged and honored to have been selected as Harvard’s newest selectman, and look forward to working for all Harvard’s citizens in the years to come. So much lies ahead for our town, and I am excited about facing the challenges and finding solutions, together.
I would also like to thank all the people who participated in the election this year—the candidates, the voters, and the volunteers. We can all be proud of the campaigns we ran—focusing on the issues, engaging in respectful debates, and energizing the public in the process we know as democracy in Harvard.
As town leaders, we need to remain focused and not lose sight of our goals as a town—financial sustainability, excellence in our schools, protection of town resources, and, most importantly, the preservation of our diverse and dedicated community of citizens. We should all be inspired by the efforts of our fellow citizens who were responsible for the successful completion of the new library project at Old Bromfield. Their success represents a formula for tackling any challenge in Harvard. With hard work, cooperation, innovation, and determination, dedicated volunteers working together can achieve just about anything—no matter what obstacles are put before them.
