Employee overnight travel
Town Administrator Tim Bragan informed the board that two town employees would attend an out-of-state professional development conference, for which there is no cost, although $1,000 from the town’s professional development fund will be spent for accommodations. Selectman Randy Dean suggested that the board quickly draft a policy for overnight travel.
FY08 Chapter 90 funds increase $46K
Town Administrator Tim Bragan told the selectmen that highway funds in the amount of $237,000 have been allocated for Harvard, $46,000 more than last fiscal year. Department of Public Works Director Richard Nota will attend the board’s next meeting, May 8, to discuss his plans for the funds.
Town clerks request rescheduled September election
At the request of Town Clerk Janet Vellante, the selectmen voted unanimously to sign letters to Congressman Marty Meehan and Governor Deval Patrick requesting that the primary election, which falls on the day after Labor Day this year, be rescheduled to the following week. The Town Clerk’s Association made this request of all towns to avoid difficulties with setup and having to pay workers a holiday premium.
