Teacher, wife of Harvard’s town doctor
Ruth C. Streeter, a public school teacher, devoted mother and grandmother, and wife of Harvard’s town doctor from 1949 to 1951, died last week at the age of 84. She was the wife of Dr. C. Clark Streeter, who had his family medical practice in the house just behind the library.
Ruth Streeter was active in community life here and in Hanson, where the Streeters lived for many years before retiring to Marion and more recently to Hingham. She taught both Latin and mathematics in the public schools.
In addition to her husband Clark, Ruth Streeter is survived by her children: Laurel McAvoy, Charles C. Streeter, Jr., and Virginia Hamilton and their families; her sister-in-law Janet Fowke of Ayer Road; and relatives in Scotland. A memorial service will be held at the Congregational Church in Marion Saturday, March 10, at 2 p.m.
