I am writing in support of Lucy Wallace’s reelection to Harvard’s Board of Selectmen. As a relative newcomer to Harvard, I have been impressed by the intelligence, energy, and enthusiasm of Lucy as she contributes her skills to myriad town boards and projects. The complexity of issues facing Harvard is significant, and Lucy has repeatedly been a leader in sorting through competing interests and proposing solutions for the good of the town. Most recently she was a voice of reason in the heated debate over the disposition of Devens, evaluating the pros and cons of Plan 2B in light of the need for an expanded commercial tax base to keep our town viable. Her earlier contributions to Harvard include years of service on the Planning Board, the Conservation Commission, the Harvard Housing Partnership, and the Nashua River Watershed Association.
Lucy is well known and respected by our state elected officials as well as the local community. When a legislator needs perspective on a local government issue, chances are Lucy will get the call. With her decades of service and her unflagging commitment to Harvard, we need her participation on the Board of Selectmen.
