At 11:31 a.m., a teacher turned in a cellphone lost in the Bromfield parking lot after calling the owner. The cell phone was held at the station for safekeeping. A car struck a Verizon utility pole around 2:34 p.m. There were no injuries and no citations.
Wednesday, February 21
A Slough Road resident called dispatch at 1:59 p.m. to complain that a bag of trash had been left by his mailbox. Police notified the highway department, which came and picked it up. Boxborough police notified Harvard police of a car driving erratically all over Mass. Avenue at 8 p.m., but Boxborough was able to handle the incident without help.
Thursday, February 22
A car parked on Stow Road created a hazard for passing vehicles, according to a call to dispatch at 12:05 a.m. The officer investigating tried to call the registered owner, but the published phone number was incorrect. Police had the car towed. A summons to appear in court was served to a Park Lane resident at 10:40 a.m. A Doberman pinscher got trapped in a swampy area off Stow and Codman Hill roads at 2:16 p.m. Animal Control Officer Ann Bamford responded to the call, and helped pull the dog out of the muck. The dog was transported to Shepherd Veterinary Clinic, and her owner, a Jacob Gates resident, was notified of the incident. An Old Mill Road resident struck a guard rail on Old Shirley Road just before 10:33 p.m. There were no injuries or damage, and no citations were issued.
Friday, February 23
A Townsend man traveling on Poor Farm Road struck a pole with his car at 7:32 a.m. There was no damage to the pole, but over $1,000 in damage to his car. The driver was unhurt and arranged his own tow. At 8:59 a.m., a driver traveling on Prospect Hill and Old Shirley roads hit a snowbank, which deployed the car’s airbags. An ambulance was called, but the man refused medical treatment. The car was towed from the scene.
Saturday, February 24
A woman walking near Depot Road called dispatch on her cell phone to report a truck driving erratically near the railroad tracks at 9:56 a.m. She reported the license plate number, and police spoke with the truck’s registered owner.
Sunday, February 25
A Still River Road resident called police to report a lost black Lab at 10:54 a.m. The dog was found at 12:43 p.m.
Monday, February 26
A woman using the ATM at the General Store reported her suspicion about a man in the parking lot at 12:33. He reportedly asked her if the machine was working properly. Police found that the man was a representative of the bank repairing the machine after a malfunction.
