At the 168th Street Armory Track and Field Center in Manhattan, nine Bromfield students participated in four different events over the three days of events. The National Scholastic Indoor Championships attracted runners from across the country, including Texas, California, and Florida.
Bromfield entered two runners in the two-mile event. Sophomore Emily Jones ran a time of 10:36. She finished third overall and was the highest underclassman to finish. A senior from New Jersey and a senior from Michigan preceded her. Junior Liz Lee also ran in the two-mile event. She came in 21st with a time of 11:18. Junior Bo Dunn ran for the Lady Trojans in the 800-meter run, finishing in 21st place as well, with a time of 2:19.
The Trojan women entered two relay teams in the national meet. The 4 X 1-mile relay team ran a total time of 22:28. The team consisted of senior Ellen Huber, senior Eliza Ives, sophomore Jennie Ives, and junior Kat Long. They finished in the 16th position. Also competing was a 4 X 800-meter relay team. This team’s time of 9:45 earned it 32nd place. Sophomore Maddie Darden, sophomore Lisa Reedich, Eliza Ives, and Long made up this quartet.
The girls will begin their spring outdoor track season in two weeks.
