In many respects, the selectman vote is another way for the town to vote for or against the Devens 2B issue. When I rationalized my vote in support of 2B, it was a vote for the devil I know versus taking a very risky chance to dance with the devil I do not know. Frankly, no one can predict what will happen to Harvard if we did something more significant with Devens because there isn’t a lot of precedent for this sort of merger of towns, so why take the chance?
As a 41-year resident—someone who was born and raised in Harvard and chose to raise my family here, the two people who are best aligned with what I want Harvard to continue to be are Mr. Kimball and Mr. Ricci. My wife and I will cast our votes for these two selectman candidates on election day and encourage others to join us.
