The General Store is back!

February 23, 2007

Hope springs eternal in town center. If all goes well, the town will have a general store again and residents will have a place to stop for emergency supplies of milk, ice cream, and malted milk balls. Nobody knows what inventory the new owners will carry; or whether the General Store will end up being a gathering place for thoughtful citizens to exchange the opinions that can shape life in Harvard; or whether—someday—coffee will be served there again. But we encourage town boards to recognize the General Store’s importance to the town and, where give-and-take is legal in their decisions, to give a little.
