The Harvard School Committee met with the Harvard Teachers’ Association (HTA) February 6 to continue contract negotiations. The School Committee is very disappointed that we were unable to reach an agreement. As the community is well aware, there have been significant gaps in terms on a number of issues that have hindered forward movement. At this most recent meeting, the School Committee made an offer that split the remaining difference with the HTA in an effort to move toward a settlement. Our proposal included salary offsets to compensate for increases in health insurance premiums and reasonable cost of living increases. The HTA chose not to continue to work with our offer in an effort to reach a settlement. The School Committee is very disappointed, as we believe a settlement would have been in everybody’s best interest.
