We appreciate that the Department of Public Works and the Police Department wrote letters asking us to remember that they are working without contracts. We also appreciate the work they do in town with so little public fuss. We know that their budgets and staffs have been cut over the years and that they agreed to pay more of their health insurance costs when the town asked that of them three years ago. We support them, and agree that a “thank you” every now and then is well-deserved.
