Tuesday, January 9
A man from Connecticut traveling on Ayer Road called dispatch on his cell phone to report hitting a deer at 1:24 a.m., but there was no damage to the car and no sign of the deer after the collision took place. The ambulance transported a person from Bromfield to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 9:14 a.m. A complaint about a speeding car on West Bare Hill and Woodside roads came in at 5:04 p.m, but the car was gone when an officer arrived. Another deer darted into traffic and hit a car on Ayer Road at 5:12 p.m. The car sustained minor damage, but the deer escaped unharmed. The Groton police called Harvard police for help locating a possibly intoxicated driver at 10:18 p.m., but the driver returned to his Groton home before Harvard police could locate him.
Wednesday, January 10
Dispatch received a call from an Orchard Hill Road resident about a possible missing person at 12:26 a.m. Police located the man in question and he returned home. The owner of a disabled car called at 8:31 a.m. to report their location on Ayer Road, and to tell dispatch a tow truck was on the way. An officer checked on a man pulled over to the side of the road at the intersection of Shaker and South Shaker roads at 8:52 a.m. He was talking on his cell phone.
Thursday, January 11
A man was stopped on Ayer Road for a motor vehicle violation at 9:10 a.m. Police found he was driving without a valid license, and issued him a summons to Clinton District Court before arranging a tow truck for his car. Another man driving on Ayer Road was stopped for a motor vehicle violation at 12:05 p.m. and found to have a suspended license: he was also given a summons to court and his car was towed. The ambulance squad transported a patient from a doctor’s office on Ayer Road to the Lahey Clinic at 12:15 p.m. A Brown Road homeowner who thought an intruder was in her home called police at 3:07 p.m., but police determined that her suspicions were unfounded. A riding helmet brought to the station for safekeeping was retrieved by its owner at 5:20 p.m. Emerson Hospital called the Police Department as a matter of routine procedure to notify them that a child had been admitted for treatment for a cat bite. The matter was referred to the animal control officer.
Friday, January 12
Police took notice of an unattended car parked on Ayer Road at 1:29 a.m., but did not record any suspicious activity.
Saturday, January 13
Pamela Chauncey, 45, of Leominster was stopped on Still River Road for suspicion of OUI and arrested at 3:05 a.m. Her car was towed from the scene, and Chauncey was booked and released from the station that same day. She will be arraigned in Clinton District Court January 16. At 6:30 a.m., an East Bare Hill Road resident called to report that his car had been stolen overnight and returned with damage. In addition, some items were taken from the car. The officer investigating the matter believes the car was used to vandalize mailboxes in the area. The matter is still under investigation, but Office Castro said that residents should lock any cars left outside at night. A passing cyclist reported a damaged mailbox on Slough Road at 8:26 a.m., and police determined that it had been struck by a vehicle sometime during the previous night. A passerby reported a dog caught in a trap in the conservation area near South Shaker Road at 8:46 a.m. See page one for more details on this story. A Pinnacle Road resident called to report a vandalized mailbox at 9:09 a.m., and police again determined that it had been hit by a car. A Lovers Lane resident driving a Toyota called to report a collision with a deer at 5:37 p.m. There was damage to the side of the car, but the deer survived the incident. A Depot Road homeowner called police at 8:09 p.m. concerning a car driving erratically in the neighborhood. Police found the driver, who was lost and looking for a particular home, and directed him on his way.
Sunday, January 14
A Blanchard Road resident called police to report a damaged mailbox at 2:06 p.m. Police determined that no vandalism had taken place, and the mailbox had fallen over due to a rotting post. A Depot Road homeowner called police at 11:25 to report a suspicious vehicle in a neighbor’s driveway. The investigating officer found that the car belonged to the neighbor.
Monday, January 15
A Cruft Lane resident called police to notify them about a mailbox found in the neighborhood at 2:56 p.m. The mailbox had a number on it but no name, and police were unable to locate the mailbox’s owner. A report of a tree blocking Pinnacle and Old Littleton roads came in at 5:22 p.m. The Department of Public Works cleared the tree from the road. Another report of a tree down on Slough and Woodchuck Hill roads came in at 5:24 p.m., but an officer was able to clear the road by himself. A Prospect Hill Road homeowner called to report a fallen tree at 10:09 p.m., but no police action was taken as the tree did not present any danger to pedestrians or motorists.
