I sent the following to Town Administrator Paul Cohen November 18 and he forwarded it to the selectmen and Department of Public Works Director Rich Nota.
“The new man in charge of the transfer station has managed to destroy the usefulness of the transfer station in somewhat less than a month. He has done away with the metal pile, which everyone used to help defray the exorbitant cost of a dump sticker. He has relocated the construction debris dumpster so that it is impossible to back up to it and unload a truck or trailer except piece by piece. No doubt his next move will be to kill ‘Take it or Leave it,’ which also helps to defray the exorbitant cost of a dump sticker. I used the word exorbitant twice on purpose. Please inform the selectmen of the above because I don’t believe they know about it because if they did, he’d be gone. If, on the other hand, they do know about it, then I hope none of them are planning to run for reelection.”
Since then, Mr. Nota has started to destroy the “Take It or Leave It” (see above). He has put up traffic cones to make it much more difficult to unload or load items from “Take It or Leave It.” At a guess, I would say he didn’t dare to just do away with it. Instead he is trying to flank us. One thing is for sure: Mr. Nota is certainly totally against recycling.If the excuse for these changes is that the changes save money, when can we expect the cost of a dump sticker to drop? Now there’s a real knee slapper!
