Tuesday, Dec. 12
Tuesday was quiet until 4:27 p.m., when a woman driving on Ayer Road hit a deer. There was damage to the car, but the driver was not injured. The deer ran away. At 5:22 p.m., officers helped the crew team store boats in a barn on Stow Road. The sound of gunshots was reported shortly after 10 p.m. by a resident of Shaker Road. The officer investigating the call found no suspicious activity.
Wednesday, Dec. 13
At 2:10 a.m. morning a resident on Ayer Road reported a suspicious motor vehicle parked nearby. The responding officer found no cause for alarm. At 10:21 a.m., a Shaker Road homeowner called to report a damaged mailbox: fireworks had been set off in the box sometime the night before. A Harvard resident reported suspicious activity in a van parked in the Dunkin’ Donuts lot at 11:35 a.m., but the van left before officers arrived. A hitchhiker looking for a ride at the intersection of Ayer Road and Route 2 was reported at 1:05 p.m., but that person, too, was gone by the time an officer arrived.
Thursday, Dec. 14
The ambulance transported a Bromfield student to Nashoba Valley Medical Center at 9:14 a.m. An ongoing dispute between neighbors on Stow Road was the subject of a call to dispatch at 10:31 a.m., when a man reported an arson attempt on his barn. An officer found ashes from burnt brush near the property line, but no evidence of malice. At 11:18 p.m. an Ayer man traveling west on South Shaker Road toward Stonecutter’s Path swerved and struck a tree. He was cited for failure to stay in marked lanes and the car was towed.
Friday, Dec. 15
Police cited a Harvard resident for speeding and improper passing at the intersection of Poor Farm Road and Route 2 at 8:54 a.m. Friday. The citation followed a previous verbal warning given by Officer Castro after a school bus driver repeatedly reported the driver passing the bus while children were getting on. An East Bare Hill Road resident called dispatch to report a noisy dump truck on the street at 11:58 a.m. A suspicious car was reported by a resident at 10:09 p.m., but the car was parked legitimately at the beach. An Oak Hill Road homeowner notified dispatch of gunshot sounds at 11:13 p.m., but police were unable to locate the source.
Saturday, Dec. 16
No major activity was reported Saturday until 2:56 p.m., when officers stopped a Leominster man on Still River Road and cited him for driving without a license. The car was towed. Two homeowners near Shaker Village called to report hearing explosions at 10:32 p.m., but officers found nothing at the scene.
Sunday, Dec. 17
Police stopped Taino Reyes, 30, of Worcester for speeding on Route 2 eastbound at 3:18 a.m. Sunday morning. He was arrested for driving with a revoked license as well as for speeding, and was taken to the Harvard police station for booking and bail. His car was towed. Reyes was arraigned in district court Monday, December 18. A car parked on Old Littleton Road was broken into sometime before 1:27 p.m., when the owner called to report the theft of some personal items. A report of a suspicious car on Oak Hill Road came in to dispatch at 8:23 p.m., but the officer investigating the call could not find the car in question.
Monday, Dec. 18
Dispatch received a call about a vehicle driving “all over the road” at 6:04 a.m. Monday, but the car was gone by the time an officer arrived. A Level II sex offender completed compulsory annual registration at the police station at 11:05 a.m. Monday morning, meeting requirements set by the state.
