The annual New England Newspaper & Press Association (NENPA) convention is a celebration of good journalism. One convention highlight is a display of the best work of the best newspapers in New England: prize-winning news stories, editorials, columns, photographs, sports stories, human interest stories, and other elements that go into making a great newspaper. This year, the Press was honored to be included in that display, and to be among the first-place award winners at NENPA’s awards banquet Saturday night.
Editor John Osborn and reporters Joan Eliyesil and Marty Green took top honors for their coverage of the Hildreth Elementary School building project in the months leading up to the votes at Annual Town Meeting and Town Election last year. We know how hard they worked on those stories and how hard it was—and is—to maintain focus and objectivity when covering a highly controversial issue in a small town like Harvard.
We always knew how hard-working and dedicated they are. Now it’s official: They’re among the best of the best.
