Press release submitted by the Applewild School
After a national search, the Applewild Board of Trustees has unanimously appointed Lunenburg native Amy Jolly to be Applewild's seventh Head of School. Amy will begin her tenure on July 1, 2019.
“Amy impressed the faculty, staff, Board and many parents. The Search Committee admired her deep appreciation for Applewild's Core Values and program, her energy, her innovative initiatives, her breadth and depth of experience in enrollment management, her thorough familiarity with our region and a variety of schools, and her recent experience as a Head of School,” stated Will Aubuchon ‘92, President of the Board.
Most recently, Amy was the Head of School at Maine Girls Academy in Portland, Maine. She began her independent school career as the Admission Director at Oakcrest School in McLean, Virginia. After helping the school grow for four years, she found an opportunity to return to her roots near Lunenburg by becoming the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid at Shady Hill School in Cambridge and then at Fenn School in Concord for nine years.
A graduate of The American University with a degree in International Studies, Amy was also a Division I swimmer. She worked in the corporate world for several years in a variety of roles including leading teams of programmers, analysts, and marketing professionals. Amy has presented at regional and national panels on innovative business practices in education.
Founded in 1957, Applewild School is a coeducational, independent day school for grades preschool through eighth located in Fitchburg, with an additional campus in Devens, offering preschool, kindergarten and expanding to include first grade for the 2019-20 school year. Among Amy’s goals will be to assure the evolution of the Applewild Devens campus into a fully functioning combination preschool and grades k-5 elementary school, providing the same outstanding curriculum and Core Values as on the Fitchburg campus.
Amy looks forward to being a presence on both campuses this spring and familiarizing herself with the greater community as she begins the transition.
