Acton's Theatre III presents A.R. Gurney's 'Sylvia'

Press release submitted by Theatre III

Greg (Chris Erath of Framingham) and Tom (Gary M. Kendall of Leominster) debate the meaning of life and canines in the park. (Photos by Terri Carotenuto)

It’s the Upper West Side of Manhattan in the 1980s, and a love triangle has developed between Greg, his wife, Kate, and Sylvia . . . their dog. Empty-nesters Greg and Kate have moved to Manhattan after 20 years in the suburbs. Greg is dissatisfied with his job and looking for meaning in his life, while Kate is excited about her new teaching opportunities and new-found freedom. When Greg brings Sylvia into their relationship, the exuberant, lovable dog (played by a human) challenges their marriage and their habitual points of view.

Smart, playful, sophisticated, irreverent, and occasionally gritty, A.R. Gurney’s “Sylvia” is a comedy about relationships, nature, and growing older.

Karen Dinehart, director; Linda Minkoff, producer
