The Ambulance Service responded to six calls and transported five patients to the hospital, all with Advanced Life Support services on board. There were no motor vehicle collisions that required the Ambulance Service.
Tuesday, April 15
At 6:16 p.m. a 911 caller reported a car fire on Route 2 westbound. Engine 2 was dispatched and found two disabled vehicles but no fire. Then the Engine 2 crew spotted a three-car collision and notified Ayer and Littleton to send ambulances to transport the injured. Meanwhile, the Harvard firefighters provided scene safety and cleaned up fluids and debris.
Friday, April 18
At 2:03 p.m. the tanker responded to a request from Littleton for mutual aid at a brush fire.
Sunday, April 20
At 8:59 a.m. the tanker went out again for mutual aid at a very large mulch fire in Acton. The Harvard tanker shuttled water to extinguish the burning mulch pile, which was as big as a building. At 3:26 p.m. the tanker and a forestry truck were called to a smaller mulch fire—about 25 feet square—that was smoldering near Ayer Road. At 5:41 p.m. a 911 caller reported a tractor-trailer on fire on Interstate 495 southbound, but the call was canceled before the crew left Harvard.
Monday, April 21
At 12:49 p.m. a train crew called the Devens Fire Department to report multiple small fires smoldering in leaves and brush along the tracks near the end of Old Mill Road. The fires were likely started by sparks from a previous train. Devens called on Harvard firefighters, who took the tanker and forestry truck to extinguish the fires. At 2:04 p.m. Engine 2 and the forestry truck were called to South Shaker Road, where sparks from a burning transformer were causing fires. Police closed the road, firefighters extinguished the fires along the road, and National Grid was called to put out the transformer fire.
