The Bromfield Drama Society was a winner at the semifinal round of the state drama competition Saturday, March 18, at Danvers Regional High School. Bromfield will join 13 other semifinalist schools to compete at the finals in Boston at John Hancock Hall March 30 to April 1. Two schools will be chosen at the state finals to represent Massachusetts and compete in the New England Drama Festival held at Norwood High School April 20, 21, and 22.
The Massachusetts High School Festival is the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild’s premier event. The 2017 festival included 112 one-act plays produced by high schools throughout the state. The competition is organized on three levels: preliminary, semifinal, and finals. Student excellence in acting and technical design is recognized at each level, including the selection of an all-star company at the finals.
The Bromfield Drama Society will hold a fundraising performance of its play, “Shipwrecked,” Sunday, March 26, at 2 p.m. in the Cronin Auditorium. Tickets are $10. This performance will raise money to pay for transportation for the cast and crew to go to Boston for the three-day finals event.
