At its May 15 meeting the Permanent Building Committee voted to choose Kaestle Boos Associates as the architectectural firm for the fire station feasibility study. Committee members and Fire Chief Rick Sicard all rated Kaestle Boos above the other three interviewees: Carell Group Inc., Caolo & Bieniek Architects, and Galante Architecture Studio.
PBC member Pablo Carbonell said he was impressed by Kaestle Boos’ direct answers to questions, the firm’s record of bringing projects in under budget, and the depth of its organization. Chair Cindy Russo said the company also had the expertise needed to create materials to present the project to the town, and asked Assistant Town Administrator Marie Sobalvarro to include that in the scope of work in the contract.
The fire station feasibility study was funded by Article 17 at 2018 Annual Town Meeting. The article provided $40,000 for a study to determine if the current building and location are adequate to serve the needs of the town and to suggest alternatives if they are not.
